About Morse Code Alphabet Chart
This Morse code alphabet chart lists the dots and dashes for each letter from A to Z, each number from 0 to 9, the punctuation the tool supports, and the common prosigns. The translator on this page lets you try any of them. It is free, needs no sign-up and runs in your browser, so nothing you enter is uploaded.
Each letter is a pattern of one to four signals, and the most common English letters have the shortest ones: E is a single dot, T is a single dash, A is dot dash. That was deliberate, so that frequent letters are quick to send. Numbers are all five signals long, and a number runs 1 to 5 with one more dot each time, then 6 to 0 with one more dash each time.
Spacing is part of the code. Send one dot of silence between the signals in a letter, three dots between letters, and seven between words. In writing, that is a space between letters and a slash between words.
Prosigns such as <SOS>, <AR> and <SK> are sent with no gaps, as one long character. In this tool, type them in angle brackets. The tables below are built from the same data as the translator, so they always match what it produces.

Privacy: how it works
- The text, the Morse code and the audio are all produced by code in your browser tab. Nothing is sent to Ulkaa or to any other server, which you can confirm in the Network tab of your browser developer tools.
- The WAV file is made on your device and saved straight to your downloads.
Tips
- To practise reading, translate a short phrase, press Play audio at 15 WPM with the box hidden, and try to write what you heard before looking.
- Use Flash light and a dark room to try signalling with a lamp, a torch or a mirror. The on-screen light blinks at the same rhythm as the sound.
- If decoding gives odd results, check the spacing. One space between letters and a slash with spaces around it between words works best.
- Pasting Morse from a web page often brings in long dashes or middle dots. The decoder accepts them, so you do not have to clean them first.
