About Free Math Tools
These math tools are free, need no sign-up and run in your browser, so the numbers you enter are never uploaded. There are four calculators, for percentages, fractions, equations and matrices, plus two converters, one for units and one for number bases.
The percentage calculator covers sixteen questions, from "what is 15% of 200" to percent change, discounts with tax, marks, percent error and tip splitting. The fraction calculator does exact arithmetic on fractions and mixed numbers and shows repeating decimals such as 1/7 = 0.(142857) exactly. The equation solver handles linear, quadratic, cubic and higher polynomials plus systems of two or three equations, with steps and a graph. The matrix calculator works up to 6 × 6 and finds determinants, inverses, rank, reduced row echelon form and eigenvalues.
The unit converter handles 13 kinds of quantity, including Bangladesh land units. The number base converter works with any base from 2 to 36, so it covers binary, octal, decimal and hexadecimal as well as the unusual ones. Each tool also has focused pages for single tasks, such as the quadratic formula, a 3 × 3 inverse or fraction to percent.
Frequently asked questions
Is it really free?
Yes. There is no price, no trial and no credit card. Ulkaa Tool does the work with your own device, so there is no server bill to pass on to you.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up and no login. Open the page and use it. An Ulkaa account is not needed for anything on this tool.
Does it run in my browser?
Yes. Numbers are processed by code running in your browser tab, on your own device.
Is my data uploaded?
No. Numbers are never sent to Ulkaa or to anyone else. You can check this yourself by watching the Network tab in your browser developer tools while you use the tool.
Do the calculators show their working?
The percentage, fraction, equation and matrix calculators write out their steps: the formula and arithmetic for a percentage, the common denominator for a fraction, the discriminant or row operations for an equation, and the row reduction or expansion for a matrix.
Are the answers exact?
Fractions and matrices use exact arithmetic, so fractional answers stay as fractions. The percentage calculator rounds to six decimal places, and irrational equation roots are shown as decimals to about ten places.
Which tool should I use for a percentage change or a discount?
The percentage calculator. It has separate modes for percent change, percent difference, increase, decrease, reverse percentage and discount with tax, since each answers a different question.
Can I solve a system of equations here?
Yes. The equation solver has modes for two and three linear equations, solved by Gauss-Jordan elimination. For a larger or non-square system, use the RREF mode of the matrix calculator.
What can the unit converter and number base converter do?
The unit converter covers 13 quantities, including Bangladesh land units. The number base converter handles bases 2 to 36.
