About Text to Speech Online
This text to speech tool is free, needs no sign-up and runs in your browser, so the text you type is never uploaded. Paste or type up to 20,000 characters, choose a voice, and press Speak. The sentence being read is highlighted, and long text is split into sentences and read one after another so it does not cut out halfway.
There are two modes. Instant mode uses the speech voices already installed on your phone or computer through the Web Speech API. It starts at once, downloads nothing and lets you change the voice, the speed and the pitch. Which voices you get depends on your device and browser: Windows, macOS, Android, iOS and Chrome OS each ship different ones.
Instant mode cannot save audio. A browser does not hand over the sound of a device voice, so there is no honest way to offer a WAV or MP3 download there. For a file, switch to Natural mode, which uses the Kokoro 82M model (Apache-2.0 licence, 93 MB) from Hugging Face. It asks before it downloads, runs on your device, and saves the result as a WAV file.
Bangla is supported in Instant mode only if your device has a Bangla voice. The tool lists the voices your device reports and tells you plainly when there is no Bangla one, instead of reading Bangla text with an English voice and calling it done.

Worked examples
Hello world. The price is 3.14 dollars. Are you ready? Yes! gives Read as 4 sentences: "Hello world.", "The price is 3.14 dollars.", "Are you ready?", "Yes!".
The decimal in 3.14 does not end a sentence, so the price stays in one piece.
One second of silence at 24,000 samples per second, saved as WAV gives 48,044 bytes: a 44 byte header plus 2 bytes for each of the 24,000 samples.
This is the 16-bit mono format Natural mode saves.

Good to know
Why Instant mode cannot give you a file
The Web Speech API plays a device voice through the speakers but does not expose the audio, so a web page cannot record it. Any page that claims to save the Instant voice either records your speakers, which is unreliable, or sends the text to a server. This tool does neither. If you need a file, use Natural mode.
Bangla and other languages
Instant mode can read any language your device has a voice for. Many Android phones and some Windows and macOS installs include a Bangla voice; many computers do not. If the tool says there is no Bangla voice, install one in your system speech settings and reload the page. Natural mode uses English voices only.
Privacy: how it works
- Your text is processed in your browser and is never sent to Ulkaa or to anyone else. Instant mode uses a voice that is already on your device and downloads nothing.
- Natural mode downloads one model, Kokoro 82M, from Hugging Face the first time you confirm it. The request does not include your text, and your browser may cache the model.
Tips
- Put a full stop, question mark or danda at the end of each sentence. The tool pauses and highlights at those marks.
- If a voice sounds flat, try another from the list. The quality differs a lot between voices.
- Spell out abbreviations and numbers you want read a certain way, for example write twenty twenty-six instead of 2026.
- On a phone, turn off silent mode, or the speech may play with no sound.
