About What GPA Do I Need? Target GPA Calculator
This target GPA page shows how to work out the GPA you need over your remaining credits to reach a goal, with the formula and a worked example. It is free, needs no sign-up and runs in your browser, so nothing you enter is uploaded.
The calculation is a rearrangement of the GPA formula: the needed GPA is the target times total credits, minus what you already have, divided by the remaining credits. If the answer is above the top of the scale, the target is out of reach, even with straight top grades. If it is at or below zero, you are already safe.
The target planner itself is in the CGPA calculator on Ulkaa Tool: enter a target CGPA and the credits remaining and it shows the average you need, on any scale it supports. This page runs the US college tab for entering grades.
How to use What GPA Do I Need? Target GPA Calculator
- Pick your system in the tabs: SSC, HSC, Dakhil, Alim, US high school or US college.
- For a Bangladesh exam, choose a grade for every subject. Add or remove rows to match your group, and count a two-paper subject such as Bangla or English once, with its combined grade. Or switch on marks entry and type the mark out of 100 for each subject.
- Switch the 4th subject on or off, and choose its grade. Only the points above 2.00 count towards the GPA.
- For US courses, enter the credits and the letter grade of each course. In high school mode also choose Regular, Honors or AP / IB for each course.
- Read the result. Bangladesh tabs show the GPA with and without the 4th subject and a letter grade. US tabs show the GPA, or the weighted and unweighted pair.
Features
- SSC, HSC, Dakhil and Alim on the 5.00 board scale, with the number of starting subject rows matching each exam and rows you can add or remove.
- 4th subject support: points above 2.00 are added, the GPA is capped at 5.00, and an F in the 4th subject does not make the GPA zero.
- GPA with and without the 4th subject shown together, and a letter grade for the result.
- The F rule: an F in any main subject makes the GPA 0.00.
- Marks entry: type a mark out of 100 and the calculator finds the grade and its points.
- GPA shown to two decimals without rounding up, the way the boards print it, so 4.996 shows as 4.99.
- US high school GPA, weighted (+0.5 Honors, +1.0 AP or IB) and unweighted, weighted by credits.
- US college GPA on the 4.0 scale or the 4.3 scale where A+ is 4.3, with typical Latin honors.
- Plus and minus letters and decimal credits for US courses.
Needed GPA
Current GPA is over done credits, target is for done plus remaining credits.
needed = (target × (done + remaining) − current × done) ÷ remainingWorked examples
Current GPA 3.20 over 60 credits, target 3.40, 30 credits remaining gives You need 3.80 over the next 30 credits
(3.40 × 90 − 3.20 × 60) ÷ 30 = 3.80.
Same position, target 3.90 gives Not reachable: it would need more than 4.0
Even straight 4.0s over 30 credits would reach only 3.47.
Privacy: how it works
- Subjects, marks, grades and credits are processed by code in your browser tab. Nothing is sent to Ulkaa or anyone else, and nothing is stored, so closing the tab clears the page.
Tips
- If a university asks for your GPA, quote the figure printed on your marksheet and use this page to understand it.
- Count a two-paper subject once, with its combined grade, so the number of main subjects matches the board.
- In US high school mode, check whether your school caps weighted GPA at 5.0 or weights only some grades, and adjust your reading of the result.

How do I find the GPA I need to reach my target?
Use target times total credits, minus current GPA times credits done, divided by remaining credits. If the answer is above the maximum, the target is not reachable.
Can I raise a low GPA quickly?
The more credits you have completed, the slower it moves. Early on a few strong courses shift it a lot, later much less.
