About UK Degree Classification Calculator
This UK degree classification calculator averages your module marks, weighted by credits, and shows the honours class: First at 70 percent and above, 2:1 from 60, 2:2 from 50 and Third from 40. It is free, needs no sign-up and runs in your browser, so nothing you enter is uploaded.
Enter one row per module with its credits, pick Type point and enter the mark out of 100. The module picker also offers the four bands as shortcuts, but a typed mark gives an exact average. The percentage shown is the average itself.
Real degree classification is more detailed than one average. Universities weight years differently, often counting the final years more, and many apply borderline rules or best-credit selection. Use this for a rough position and your university regulations for the official classification.
How to use UK Degree Classification Calculator
- Choose your grading scale from the list. The table of letters and points for that scale is used for every course row. Pick Custom scale if your university uses its own table.
- Enter each course with its credit hours and grade. Choose a letter from the list, or pick Type point to enter a grade point yourself.
- Add or remove rows until the list matches your semester. Credits can be decimals such as 1.5.
- To get a cumulative result, switch on Add previous CGPA and enter your CGPA so far and the credits it covers. The new CGPA weights both by credit.
- Read the term GPA, the cumulative CGPA, the degree class where the scale has one, and the percentage, German grade and US 4.0 estimate.
- Use the target planner to enter the CGPA you want and the credits you have left. It shows the average you need.

Privacy: how it works
- Courses, credits and grades are handled by code running in your browser tab. Nothing is sent to Ulkaa or anyone else, and nothing is saved: closing the tab clears what you typed.
Tips
- Use the credit hours from your transcript, not the number of courses. A 1-credit lab counts a third as much as a 3-credit lecture.
- To enter a whole semester you only know as a GPA, add one row with that semester credits and choose Type point for its grade point.
- For a conversion to percentage, check which formula your university or the receiving organisation accepts before you quote the number.
Frequently asked questions
Is it really free?
Yes. There is no price, no trial and no credit card. Ulkaa Tool does the work with your own device, so there is no server bill to pass on to you.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up and no login. Open the page and use it. An Ulkaa account is not needed for anything on this tool.
Does it run in my browser?
Yes. Your grades are processed by code running in your browser tab, on your own device.
Is my data uploaded?
No. Your grades are never sent to Ulkaa or to anyone else. You can check this yourself by watching the Network tab in your browser developer tools while you use the tool.
What percentage is a 2:1?
On the standard bands a 2:1 is 60 to 69 percent. A First is 70 and above, a 2:2 is 50 to 59 and a Third is 40 to 49.
Do all years count equally?
Not usually. Many universities weight the later years more, so a single average of every module can differ from your official class.
