About Private University CGPA Calculator (Bangladesh)
This private university CGPA calculator uses a scale common among private universities in Bangladesh, with plus and minus grades from A (4.00) down to D (1.00). It is free, needs no sign-up and runs in your browser, so nothing you enter is uploaded.
Private universities do not share one table. Some follow the UGC scale, others use a US-style one with A- at 3.70 and B+ at 3.30. The preset here is the second kind, and it is only a starting point: your transcript grading legend always wins. If your numbers differ, choose Custom scale and type your own table, including the lowest passing grade.
How to use Private University CGPA Calculator (Bangladesh)
- Choose your grading scale from the list. The table of letters and points for that scale is used for every course row. Pick Custom scale if your university uses its own table.
- Enter each course with its credit hours and grade. Choose a letter from the list, or pick Type point to enter a grade point yourself.
- Add or remove rows until the list matches your semester. Credits can be decimals such as 1.5.
- To get a cumulative result, switch on Add previous CGPA and enter your CGPA so far and the credits it covers. The new CGPA weights both by credit.
- Read the term GPA, the cumulative CGPA, the degree class where the scale has one, and the percentage, German grade and US 4.0 estimate.
- Use the target planner to enter the CGPA you want and the credits you have left. It shows the average you need.
Features
- Credit-weighted CGPA that updates on every keystroke, with no submit button.
- Nine scale options: Bangladesh UGC 4.00, a common private-university scale, US 4.0, US 4.3, India 10-point, ECTS, UK percentage, Bangladesh SSC/HSC 5.00 and a custom scale.
- A custom scale editor for the letters, points, top grade and lowest pass of your own university.
- Previous CGPA and completed credits, so a new semester updates your cumulative result.
- Degree class where the scale defines one, such as First, Second and Third class on the UGC scale, Latin honors on US 4.0, or UK honours bands.
- CGPA to percentage with the formula that fits the scale: grade band, linear, CBSE 9.5, times 10, or your own multiplier.
- Percentage to CGPA, the reverse conversion, with the same formula choices.
- German grade by the modified Bavarian formula, with three rounding modes: cut after one decimal, round to one decimal, or nearest German grade step.
- A US 4.0 estimate for scales that are not already 4.0, and a target CGPA planner.
Worked examples
Five courses: 3 credits, A-; 3 credits, B+; 3 credits, B; 3 credits, A; 1 credit, B- gives Σ(credit × point) = 44.7, credits = 13, CGPA = 3.44

Privacy: how it works
- Courses, credits and grades are handled by code running in your browser tab. Nothing is sent to Ulkaa or anyone else, and nothing is saved: closing the tab clears what you typed.
Tips
- Use the credit hours from your transcript, not the number of courses. A 1-credit lab counts a third as much as a 3-credit lecture.
- To enter a whole semester you only know as a GPA, add one row with that semester credits and choose Type point for its grade point.
- For a conversion to percentage, check which formula your university or the receiving organisation accepts before you quote the number.
Frequently asked questions
Is it really free?
Yes. There is no price, no trial and no credit card. Ulkaa Tool does the work with your own device, so there is no server bill to pass on to you.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up and no login. Open the page and use it. An Ulkaa account is not needed for anything on this tool.
Does it run in my browser?
Yes. Your grades are processed by code running in your browser tab, on your own device.
Is my data uploaded?
No. Your grades are never sent to Ulkaa or to anyone else. You can check this yourself by watching the Network tab in your browser developer tools while you use the tool.
Is this the scale of my private university?
It may be, or it may not. Private universities publish different tables, so compare the letters and points with your transcript legend. If they differ, use Custom scale.
How is this different from the UGC scale?
The UGC scale has nine passing letters in 0.25 steps and a top grade of A+ at 4.00. This preset has A at 4.00, uses 0.3 and 0.4 steps, and passes down to D at 1.00.
