About CGPA to US GPA for Bangladeshi Students
This page helps Bangladeshi students estimate a US GPA from a CGPA on the UGC 4.00 scale, and shows why the two scales are not the same even though both top out at 4. It is free, needs no sign-up and runs in your browser, so nothing you enter is uploaded.
The calculator gives a US 4.0 estimate as a straight proportion. Because the UGC scale already has a 4.00 maximum, that estimate equals your CGPA. It is not the same as how US schools or evaluators such as WES convert, which is course by course, and the points for the same letter differ: a UGC B- is 2.75 where a US B- is 2.7, and a UGC D is 2.00 where a US D is 1.0.
To see the difference for your own transcript, enter your courses on the UGC scale for the Bangladesh figure, then enter the same letters on the US 4.0 scale. If a university asks for an evaluation, use its named service and treat this page as a guide.
How to use CGPA to US GPA for Bangladeshi Students
- Choose your grading scale from the list. The table of letters and points for that scale is used for every course row. Pick Custom scale if your university uses its own table.
- Enter each course with its credit hours and grade. Choose a letter from the list, or pick Type point to enter a grade point yourself.
- Add or remove rows until the list matches your semester. Credits can be decimals such as 1.5.
- To get a cumulative result, switch on Add previous CGPA and enter your CGPA so far and the credits it covers. The new CGPA weights both by credit.
- Read the term GPA, the cumulative CGPA, the degree class where the scale has one, and the percentage, German grade and US 4.0 estimate.
- Use the target planner to enter the CGPA you want and the credits you have left. It shows the average you need.

Worked examples
Two courses, 3 credits each: one UGC A (3.75) and one UGC D (2.00) gives UGC CGPA 2.88. The same letters on the US 4.0 scale (A 4.0, D 1.0) give 2.50
The difference comes from the letters, not a bug.

- Courses, credits and grades are handled by code running in your browser tab. Nothing is sent to Ulkaa or anyone else, and nothing is saved: closing the tab clears what you typed.
Tips
- Use the credit hours from your transcript, not the number of courses. A 1-credit lab counts a third as much as a 3-credit lecture.
- To enter a whole semester you only know as a GPA, add one row with that semester credits and choose Type point for its grade point.
- For a conversion to percentage, check which formula your university or the receiving organisation accepts before you quote the number.

Is it really free?
Yes. There is no price, no trial and no credit card. Ulkaa Tool does the work with your own device, so there is no server bill to pass on to you.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up and no login. Open the page and use it. An Ulkaa account is not needed for anything on this tool.
Does it run in my browser?
Yes. Your grades are processed by code running in your browser tab, on your own device.
Is my data uploaded?
No. Your grades are never sent to Ulkaa or to anyone else. You can check this yourself by watching the Network tab in your browser developer tools while you use the tool.
How do I convert my Bangladeshi CGPA to US GPA?
There is no official formula. Evaluation services convert course by course. The calculator gives a proportional estimate, which for a 4.00 UGC scale equals the CGPA.
Will US universities accept my CGPA as it is?
Many accept the CGPA printed on your transcript together with its scale and sometimes ask for an evaluation. Check the requirement of each university.
